Fall asleep under the stars to the sounds of water moving down the Wappingers Creek, wake up to the sounds of birds, & take a quick hike to feel the energies of nature and take in the sights of waterfalls.

Ryan and I went glamping in Clinton Corners, NY which is 25 minutes away from Poughkeepsie and booked our reservation through Tentrr. An amazing site that transforms peoples properties into a stylish way for us to enjoy nature. In other words, take the idea of Airbnb but instead you'll reserve a private campsite. This was our first time booking with Tentrr and we would do it again!
The drive was about 2 hours from Long Island and upon arrival our host welcomed us. The price was $75/night plus a total of $10 more for s'mores and a cooler with ice. To book this campsite at 'Creekside Solitude' click here!

What to pack
-Flashlight/head lamp
-Lighter
-Bug spray (they are still biting in the fall!)
-Pillows and pillow cases
-Bed sheets and blankets (queen size)
-Fire wood (the host offers for additional price)
-Water/snacks
-Cooler with ice (host offers for additional price)

Some Things To Keep In Mind
-There is a toilet at the campsite that is in a zip up tiny tent
-Pillows and sheets are not provided
-There is a wood stove inside the canvas tent for cold nights
-Bringing your travel hammock? An extension is a must because the trees are far apart
-Look out for poison ivy in the bushy areas and around some trees
-4 camping chairs are provided on cappadocia wsite
Day 1/ Settle in & Campfire
Upon arrival our host greeted us and offered to use his wheel barrels to help carry our belongings to the site, which was a nature walk through the woods that you can't drive to. The site was pitch dark and the stars were absolutely breath taking. It wasn't too long till we had opened our first beer around the fire and listened to the crickets.
Day 2/ Breakfast & Hike
We took things slow as we woke up to the sounds of birds chirping, cows mooing in the distance, and the water rushing down the creek. It was so peaceful. I energized myself with my feet in the cold creek water. We grabbed breakfast at this cute breakfast spot in town and headed North. About 30 minutes away is High Falls Conservation Area hosting a very nice hike called Green & Blue trail which we absolutely loved!
This is an in and out trail featuring 3 waterfalls with phone service the entire time. Although Alltrails has it rated as moderate, it is not difficult at all! I encourage people of all levels to give this one a go! It is a super short 1.4 mile trail that took us no more than 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete and that is including stopping to look at mushrooms, sit on rocks, stare at the falls, and look for frogs.
Parking was so easy and it was not crowded at all! The flow of people coming and going was consistent and the trail is well marked. If you go right at the fork then pretty quickly into the hike you will feast your eyes on the first and largest of the 3 waterfalls on a natural platform from above. What I really liked about this trail is the park benches that were spread out along the way. It gave me an inviting feeling to just sit and enjoy all the nature around me.

Getting Off The Beaten Path
This view point is the turn around point for the in and out trail but Ryan had this idea to keep going and crawl under the fence. This opened up our day to a whole new adventure as now it became a goal of ours to get to the base of the largest waterfall. We descended down following the sounds of the water to promptly find the second falls, a cute little waterfall. We followed the flow of water while spotting frogs along the way. After 10 minutes we found the base of the falls with plenty of rocks to sit on. The feeling of the mist coating my face and the strength of the cool wind was refreshing. We continued our adventure back to where we started but on a different path. To walk back, the falls should be on your righthand side and follow the stream with it on your right side the entire time. You'll see the 3rd waterfall with a bench in front of it. Not too far away are stairs that will kindly guide you back to the beginning of the trail.
After we road tripped on the backroads and grabbed dinner. We headed back to the campsite for our 2nd night and listened to the sounds of owls hooting while we cooked our s'mores over the fire and sipped on cold beer.
Day 3/ Check out & Explore Downtown Poughkeepsie
Poughkeepsie has an adorable downtown with excellent breakfast and brunch spots including Alex's Restaurant. This popping joint on the corner of a crossroad is clearly Poughkeepsie's favorite go-to breaky spot. To make a reservation at Alex's click here. They were SO busy that they started recommending guests to an another excellent brunch spot in town called Mill House Brewing Company that offers a delicious Sunday brunch menu and as you'd expect, an impressive line up of beers on tap. We were humbled by how businesses supported each other in town rather than compete and to top it off their rec was on point! Food, coffee, and later beer hit the spot and not to mention the service was impeccable.
There are a handful of breweries in town for craft beer lovers. To name a few, Kings Court Brewing Company, Blue Collar Brewery, and Zeus Brewing Company are all in the surrounding area.

Overall Review of The Campsite
The site was very clean, presentable, had tiki torches nicely spaced out, a beautiful fire pit, and the stars were incredible. We felt so far away. The tent had an air mattress but we did not find it to be the most comfortable and recommend bringing a sleeping pad. Bringing your own air mattress is tough since you can't drive your car to the site and there are no outlets to hook up a compressor to. Putting aside the comfort of the bed, we would 100% recommend this campsite and would do it again!
